I’m training my dog as a therepy dog but it’s not official because I own him and just decided to do this but can I still take him out places like wallmart that allow therepy and service animals? Do I need to get him registered as a therepy dog in training? If so how do I do it?

Answer by ♫♪ Nekkid Bootie ♪♫
no

therapy dogs are NOT allowed in stores and restraunts either.. they are only allowed in places like hospitals and nursing homes.

Only SERVICE animals are allowed in stores and restraunts. Unless you have a disability, and your dog is trained to perform a task that assists you with your disability, your dog is not allowed.

Every so often, someone in here goes on a soapbox rant about Cesar Milan. What is a better training method, and WHY is his so bad? If it works, what is the problem? I am really curious.

Best answer:

Answer by Dauntless
My issue with Cesar is not his training method it is the fact that he does not teach the people that actually live with the dog to maintain it. The food he supposedly developed is crap.

Question by koolgirl_19: Can anyone give me any tips on training a puppy? Please?
I resently got a maltese mixed with a pikinese. And i live in a appartment i know it is to small. I just bought a crate and i hope that works. But he is wild, i know puppys are sopose to have a lot of energy but the is crazy. This is my first puppy. If anyone can tell me anything that will help in training him or anything. I can really use the help. thanks
he is about 3 months old

Best answer:

Answer by omgsideburns
Crate training takes time. Do NOT let the dog out of the crate just because it’s barking or crying. It’s hard but you cannot reenforce that behavior.

Take the dog out for a walk. Walk it till it doesn’t want to walk anymore. I have a big dog, I’ll walk it while I skate on my longboard. This usually does the trick. When he’s back in the house he is fairly calm, usually just lays at my feet wherever I go after that.

Just remember, the bigger the dog, the longer they are a puppy.

Question by StrictlyCorso: What do you guys think of Dog Obedience Training at PetSmart?
Im interested in taking my dog to obedience training at Petsmart. If anyone has taken the classes Id like some feedback….. was it worth the money? did it seem like they were training your dog hands on? did the trainer personally helped with issues, or did he/she just basically read out of a book out loud to everyone? how did the trainer interact with each student? did it feel like a personal session or di it seem overcrowded and hard to keep up? thanks in advance.

Best answer:

Answer by viktorianielsen
I took my Jack Russell Terrier Mix to the PetSmart dog training. He really learnt alot there. They helped us alot and showed us what to do with one of the dogs in the group. It was really fun to go to with my dog and I even learnt alot from it aswell as my dog. There was about nine of us in the group and it still went good. For the $ 100 it was when we took him it was well worth it.

Question by Jenni B: Dog Training Tips for the canine challenged?
How can I train my dog to not pull on the leash when I walk him? He was a year old when I adopted him and I have had him about two months now. Everything I have tried doesnt seem to stick. So now I am thinking about getting a choke chain…. Anyone have any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by oregano13
Choke chains should not be used without professional help (dog trainer) if you are not extremely experienced yourself. They can be extremely dangerous when used improperly or placed improperly, and I personally do not think they do anything that could not be accomplished with training and no pain or discomfort. Get signed up for a basic obedience class, it will help. In the meantime, dog pulls= you stop walking until the dog releases the pressure. Then proceed. Give treats when the dog isn’t pulling on the leash. The first few days it may take you an hour to go ten feet. This is normal. Keep at it and be persistent and he will realize if he pulls he doesn’t get to go anywhere.

And when I’m at work at night will it be OK to leave her in the crate for four hours…my boyfriend will be around but he works at home (very busy) so i feel like its mean to keep her in there when someone is home…

Answer by hayesbrat
we bought our training book at petsmart. each breeds different so they sell training books based on breed. she will be ok in the crate for a few hours. lots of people do it. we leave ours locked up when we leave for hours.
