Look up information online. It is very hard to paper train, but if you’re consistant it will work. The key is to not let her go on the carpet, no matter what! If you catch her- yell “NO!” and swoop her up and take her out! You HAVE to catch her in the act- you can’t take your eyes off of her! After she hasn’t gone on the carpet for 4 consecutive weeks- you can consider her housebroke!

You do not leave her in the bathroom (or any other spot) if you want her to be a family member. After you feed a puppy, you then take her to her place to go (their digestion is very fast). Stay with her until she goes, then she comes back to the room with you. You do not leave food and water available at all times, but you make it available under your supervision often. You will learn how often she wants to eat and drink, and that will be your schedule. She eats, then goes out, or goes to the place you want her to go, then comes back into her/your “living area”. Also a cage is more appropriate for a puppy than a room. A cage is the equivalent of a “den” in the wild, and dogs generally do not soil their den (but make sure she goes before you put her to “bed”). Call the cage her “bed”, and use it when your not home and when you go to bed. A cage used as a “bed” or den is comforting for a dog, but NEVER use it as punishment. Your going to have to work longer and harder now because you have 3 weeks of (incorrect) training to undo, before she begins to learn her new training. I’m afraid you put the cart before the horse, you could have saved yourself a lot of time and frustration by asking questions, and/or reading, before you got her. I would also suggest you go the library and get some books on training/raising a puppy.
