“If you are not having fun training your dog, you should reassess your training process”
    Golden comment.
I like to say “If it ‘aint fun, you just ‘aint doin’ it right!”

:P I just wanted to say this:
When I see people say things like, “I wish my dogs were like that” or “My dog is too dumb to do things like that.” It makes me sad and I wish they’d understand that the only reason why people like Emily has such great dogs is because they have such great communication and understanding of their dogs. It’s not just their dogs that are intelligent and talented, anyone’s dog can be like this as long as one puts the time and love.
    Wonderful video by the way.

  8. Zonneke says:

@ChurtleSnap You are absolutely right! But some dogs are harder to motivate.
For example my smallest dog Marcel is very good at doing tricks where he has to do things(sit pretty, take a bow,..)but he’s terrible at retrieving things even though I have tried for almost 4 years to teach him, he just doesn’t like. And my other dog Charlie is the exact opposite. When he can pick something up and carry it, he’s in 7th heaven!
So I think the tricks a dog can do depend on the dog and not just the trainer.

If only everyone understood how easily play can be incorporated into training. And, not to ever be too embarrassed to act silly with their dog! Great video. Thanks for sharing

  15. Suffix95 says:

That was a fun toy! I reckon we have one of those around here too. I’ve never thought about using them as toys, but they look like a lot of fun! I should find ours and see what my dogs think about it!

Love this… So much cheaper than agility gear. and a ton of fun too.
    Keep It Simple ….

  17. ChurtleSnap says:

@Zonneke Yes I know what you mean, some dogs just don’t really care about doing tricks and learning tricks. And it goes for the same thing as dog owners with those kinds of dogs, they think that their dog is just lazy and boring because they don’t do what the OWNER wants them. But dogs are great companions whether or not they can roll over, fetch, and so on. A shame not many people can realize it.

  18. jaymejamjar says:

  22. donnyz89 says:

@ChurtleSnap yes, what they don’t see is the hours of consistent practice that Emily has put in. Great video :)

  23. Jal1515 says:

@ChurtleSnap Communication, understanding, love and time is one of many things put into dog training. You also have to have patience, determination and practice. Although just like people, all dogs are different, learn differently and at different speeds and different ways. It’s a matter of finding the right “currency” and the right way to train your dog :)
