it varies for each petsmart as far as price goes. but it is worth it as they are very good trainers

Personally, I would rather have a personal trainer, that can spend some one-on-one time with me and my dog. However, I do have two close friends that sent their dogs to Petsmart training classes, and they said the classes really helped.

Great for basic training. Behavior “issues” you may need more.

I actually work at petsmart, not as a trainer but a cashier. The basic puppy class is $ 109, but a private class is more. I think it’s double that.
All I’ve heard from customers is good things. Our trainers at our store (Columbus OH) are awesome. I definitely recommend it (not just cuz I work there either lol)

About 100 dollars but not worth it. The dogs just play while they’re training and don’t really learn anything. Try a personal trainer, that will be more useful.

Rivendellrose’s price quote seems to be accurate all over the U.S. My PetSmart here in Rochester, NY offers the Puppy Education class for $ 109 for an eight-week session. Classes meet once a week, and in addition to the one-hour classes, you get a class summary sheet, “homework” to practice with your dog, and coupons.

Our puppy just graduated from the program this week, and it was a great experience. We started her at eleven weeks, and I couldn’t believe how easily and quickly she mastered all the work in class. The training is fantastic and encourages patience and positive reinforcement. You’re also given a good deal of insight into how dogs think compared to humans, and how to figure out their psychology and use it to correct them when they do something wrong.

I wholeheartedy recommend the program, and will be moving into the Intermediate classes soon. Good luck with your decision; I think you will be pleased with the results and with the bonding process you’ll get with your dog as you go through the program.

Petsmart is a little on the pricey side for training. We took our Boston to a training class that was listed through the school district that was only $ 65 and got the same training. (sit, stay, down, come, heal)

i think that they are about 25$ but they are really good.

What you need to do is visit several different petsmarts and other training sites to see what best suits you and your puppy! All trainers have a different training style so you need to evaluate the trainer before making a choice! I’ve watched really good trainers at PetsMart and go to another location and they are horrible. Also, if they do not have a demo dog that they have personally trained that is finished or they are not working with a young dog – run don’t walk away! I am a professional trainer that did do part time training at PetsMart but got tired of the fact that most people will not work with there dogs after they leave the store. You must work with the dog at home and not just at the training facility. I had demonstration dogs to show what they could expect if they were willing to work with there dogs. Two of my dogs are certified Search and Rescue canines and both are also Canine Good Citizens with the AKC.

i think it’s around 100 dollars, and the training really seems to work, but the techniques they use are a little basis and regular.

At 8 months you pup is a bit old for puppy classes. Find a training club in your area. The club I belong to offers puppy classes for 10 wks to 22 wks of age. At 6 months the dogs go to the regular obedience class.
We just started a new class for 1st time owners of older(6 months+) dogs. It’s half puppy class and half regular obedience class.
Our puppy class is $ 45 for 8 weeks. Regular classes are $ 75 for 10 weeks. As an example go to http://www.tulsadogs.com to see what a typical club may offer.
