put the pup in there a few minutes at a time so they get used to it. put a blanket or toy in there. then keep the crate open so they can go in and out as they want when you are home. they will get used to it. At night put a ticking alarm clock in there will help calm the pup.

I think crates arnt really about if the dog feels comfortable! I have a 6 month old yellow lab and of course she is a spoiled house dog. We only think of her crate as a place to go if she is naughty or we have to go somewhere. If the dog goes in there enough t know thats there house they will go in when they please.

You crate-train your puppy from the day you get it.

now of course. one thing i will tell you is do not give in when he crys. if you let him out when he crys he will know to cry to get let out… dogs are very smart!

It is only 1 hour for each month of age with puppies, so your puppy can only be alone/hold her potty for 2 hours at the most. Put the crate by the bed, leave the nightlight on so she can see you and be reassured you have not abandoned her. Don’t engage her, but make sure she can see you. Play a soothing cd or radio until she sleeps. If you leave, make sure a tv or radio is on for her so she doesn’t feel abandoned. Carrots for teething puppies. You have to just deal with it at this age. The bladder is not even grown until 6 months old and they are not fully potty trained until 1 year old. Take her to her potty spot, use your commands, sit in a chair and wait, praise her when she does good. I allow a little play time after the potty just in case all the potty is not done, and so the puppy does not think they go right back to the crate after they potty. Use the bell method. Most puppies will stop having accidents around 12 weeks old, however, that is too young for her to be in charge of potty training, so don’t let your guard down that early. Supervise her in the house. Don’t allow full run of the house, it is overwhelming for puppies. One room at a time, supervised. She can graduate to more space when she can behave, supervised of course. I use the command, “shame” for bad behaviors. You have to take them to the potty spot, and tell them what to do, but make sure they do it. The benefit of commands is that the puppy knows what you want from her when you travel, or if you move and the scenery changes. Good luck with your puppy.
