The keys to good housetraining include:
* Using a crate to prevent accidents and make it more likely that your pup will eliminate when you take him outside; and
* Rewarding your puppy handsomely whenever he does the right thing in the right place. Punishing your pup for mistakes can actually make housetraining harder.

Use small bits of beef as a reward.. your dog will be very willing to learn things for it. also be sure, when she does what you as, use a higher pitch and get super excited when you praise her.
Be consistent in your discipline and praise. You MUST always have the same reaction to things the dog does or it will be confused.
Make sure you are very clear when praising or getting angry, they should be completely different tones of voice, body stance, etc.
Do not let the dog get away with things from an early age like peeing in the house or begging for food or it will encourage these behaviors later in life.
Pay a lot of attention to your new puppy!
They need a lot of love and care and remember, the poor thing is scared out of it’s mind in this new environment. So you should be comforting and sweet to it, especially if you find the dog is shaky, shy or even crying.
Finally, it is important to crate train a dog from the start. This way they will learn to respect their home. They learn in a crate that if you go to the bathroom in your space you have to deal with it. This will encourage the dog to be housebroken. As well, the puppy will come to regard its crate as a safe place to be when it is scared or wants to be alone. From the first night you should make your puppy sleep in a crate. It is advised to be with the dog on these first nights so it does not get to scared. If it cries, open the crate and pet it to let it now you are there.
One thing we did to train our Chocolate Lab dog is for the first few months only my dad would feed her. We learned from this that she listens better to my dad because she knows he is the one that is going to be giving her food.
Since it is a puppy, make sure to give it lots of bones and stuff to chew on so it doesn’t learn to chew valuables.
If this your lab is going to be a hunting dog, make sure you expose it to lots of loud sound so it doesn’t become gun shy.
You need to make sure that your lab pup knows that good means good before you do anything. Its so easy, simply good followed by a treat, repeat, repeat, repeat many times until your pup isn’t looking at you and you can say good and she comes running to you for a treat. Then you will know she has made the association with the word and this will allow you to reinforce good behaviours easily. So when you see her lie down for example a good actually lets her know that is what you are looking for. Most people think dogs understand the word but you actually have to teach it.
